For this weeks fashiontography, I decided to choose something that was graceful but also very elaborate, from the fashion to the prop choice.
Overview
This is a fashiontography shot for Vogue May 2009 issue. The photographer, Annie Leibovitz, tries to capture the Model, Kate moss, In a Marc Jacobs gown.
Fashiontography Review
Factors
Lighting: It seems that the photographer was able to use diffused lighting to capture the elegant feel of the photograph. The lighting wasn’t very harsh and wasn’t very soft either, giving the perfect amount of light to highlight the key features like the dress and the model’s face.
Location: I think the location worked well with what they were going for. Using a simple room and adding props like that red couch really made the model and dress pop!
Retouching Elements: The retouching in this shot was executed poorly because it was too noticeable and unrealistic. The way this photograph was edited also makes it look like a fantasy.
WOW Factor: I think the wow factor in this photograph was the dress. What is most important in fashiontography is the actual outfit. They did a great job of laying out the dress; so that we the audience will be drawn to it.
